There are so many reasons why should you include herbal foods in your diet. If you are not sure which plants are vegetables, and which are herbs, the answer is simple. Vegetables are used as food, and herbs are mostly used to improve the taste and aroma, in much smaller quantities. Green parts of such plants are called herbs, and other parts, such as seeds, berries and roots are called spices.

People usually use different herbs in their diet, but only occasionally, and in very small amounts. Most of these plants are easy to grow, especially perennials such as rosemary and thyme. Others, such as parsley are biennials, and basil is annual herb. Adding herbs in your diet has numerous great effects on your health, but it also reduces the amount of salt, because these plants significantly improve the taste of your meals.

Some herbs are just great in reducing inflammation, for example parsley, Rosemary, Thyme, Cloves, Oregano and Ginger. They really do have natural antibiotic properties you can benefit from. They also effect your health and vitality and slow down aging processes. They all should be regularly consumed, because the best things come from nature.

Many of these herbs have surprising effects on your nervous system and brain functions. Rosemary is especially useful for improving learning abilities and general energy levels. Ginkgo is well known for its numerous beneficial properties considering nerve transmission and brain functions, especially when it comes to memory loss and dementia. Popular licorice root can help stabilize blood sugar levels.

Another miracle herb is Basil. Mediterranean kitchen cannot exist without it, and no meal containing tomatoes is complete without it either. It is full of valuable vitamins, including vitamin A and C, and minerals such as Magnesium and Calcium. The sweet aroma of Basil will enrich your food, especially if you use it freshly chopped. Small leaves can be a great addition to every salad.

Cinnamon may reduce inflammation, have antioxidant effects, and fight bacteria, while one particular type called Cassia cinnamon may lower blood sugar level. Cinnamon powder can be sprinkled over your sweets, buns or fruit salads, used in your sweet and salty recipes and significantly improve the taste of your teas, juices and other drinks.

Garlic regulates blood pressure, different seeds and berries, for example Acai Berries and grape seeds fight stress and slow down aging processes. Vitamin B17 fights cancer, and you can find it in apricot kernels. Chili is just great for your blood vessels, and has great impact on your heart condition as well. Powerful herbal food supplements contain balanced mixtures of valuable substances.

Various herbs are best when used fresh, and some are even better when dried, for example, oregano. Valuable oils in oregano leaves are even more efficient in dry leaves, and you should include this herb in your diet, by all means. Herbal foods are great for your skin, health and well-being in general. Include them in your regular diet, but make sure to use them wisely.
